History

Kamstra Travel BV was founded as a shipping company by the Kamstra brothers in 1972. The company organized the so-called ‘Butterfahrten' from the ‘Eemshaven'. These cruises sailed toward an area outside the territorial waters to enable tax-free luxury shopping. The greater part of the passengers onboard these cruises were Germans.

The Kamstra brothers sold the company in the beginning of the 90's. The new management decided to enlarge their amount of products by offering the opportunity to arrange accommodation and full itineraries for their customers, mainly within The Netherlands. Many attractions like the Keukenhof gardens, the windmills at Kinderdijk and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam became popular real fast.

The European Union banned the operation of tax free mini cruises in 1999. As a result of this prohibition, Kamstra sold its ship and the company continued focussing on organizing travel packages for groups. The Company now officially changed its name into Kamstra Travel.

Nowadays Kamstra Travel is an ambitious company with a enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of young staff members. Professionalism and customer orientation are very important. Due to the continuous growth, the company moved to a new office in Appingedam in January 2007.

Today Kamstra Travel works together with renowned partners, like NH Hotels, Accor, Golden Tulip, Van der Valk and Bastion. The customers are Travel Agencies, Tour operators, Coach Companies and Group Organizers in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, The Czech Republic and Scandinavia.

Due to years of experience and good relations with our partners we are able to provide quality, custom-made packages at a competitive rate. We look forward to receive your enquiry!
